The Program

The Wudang Gong Fu & Health Academy offers a long-term program that is suitable for both personal development through the practise of internal martial arts as well as possible future plans for teaching or opening one’s own school. Of course, there is also the option to select elements from the program to study for a short-term stay. The choice of study-content for short-term students should be in line with the practitioner’s ability, and it is recommended for the student to broadly follow the order of the long-term program for study, i.e. starting with Qigong, Taiji 18, Taiji 36, and so on, in order for the course of study and the practitioner’s progress to be built upon a well-founded basis.

The Wudang Pai study program is designed to give you a proper foundation in the internal martial arts of Wudang Shan. The study plan is based on 9 sections, every section is 3 months. The program is under the guidance of Wudang Xuan Wu Pai 15th Generation Master Tang Li Long.

 

Section One (Basic Training / Elementary 1)

Content:

1) Core Content: Basic Wudang Wushu Traning (基本功,Ji Ben Gong), Breathing Exercises (道家吐纳,Daojia Tuna), Daoyin Exercises (导引), Daoist Sitting Meditation, Gongfu Theory (拳理), Chinese Language (self-study), Calligraphy (self-practise).

2) Wudang Internal Training (内家功法,Nei Jia Gong Fa)

3) Wudang 18 Taiji Quan (武当精简18式)

4) Wudang 36 Taiji Quan (武当秘传36式太极)

5) Basic Wudang Tui Shou (推手,one hand pattern and two hand pattern)

 

Section Two (Elementary 2)

Content:

1) Core Content (same as before)

2) Wudang Internal Training (内家功法,Nei Jia Gong Fa)

3) Wudang Five Elements Fist (形意五行拳,Xing Yi Wu Xing Quan)

4) Wudang Xing Yi Pao Chui Form (形意炮捶)

5) Wudang Tui Shou (推手,moving step)

6) Wudang Sanshou Fighting (散手)

After 3 months of training you will now have further improved your Ji Ben Gong and also a basic understanding of the Xing Yi Quan skills. This training will help you improve your power, stances and foot work. This is essential for further practice with in the Xing Yi Quan system.

 

Section Three (Elementary 3)

Content:

1) Core Content (same as before)

2) Wudang Internal Training (内家功法,Nei Jia Gong Fa)

3) Basic Wudang Swordplay (Shenfa(身法), Bufa(步法), Jianfa(剑法))

4) Wudang Taiji Sword Form (太极连环剑,Taiji Lian Huan Jian)

5) Wudang Elixir Sword Form (武当丹剑,Wudang Dan Jian)

6) Basic Qin Na Techniques (擒拿)

After 3 months of training the sword techniques you have now a good understanding of the Wudang Swordplay. You have learned the characteristic body work and the body and sword is starting to work together.

 

Section Four (Intermediate 1)

Content:

1) Core Content (same as before)

2) Wudang Internal Training (内家功法,Nei Jia Gong Fa)

3) Basic Wudang Bagua Turning Palms

4) Wudang Bagua Zhang (八卦掌)

After 3 months of training Bagua Zhang you have now a good understanding of the Bagua Zhang Foundations. You have learned the foot work and body work. The Bagua walk should be light, balanced and rooted. The hands, body and feets will work in harmony. This builds up for further practice with in the Bagua Zhang system.

 

Section Five (Intermediate 2)

Content:

1) Core Content (same as before)

2) Wudang Internal Training (内家功法,Nei Jia Gong Fa)

3) Wudang Tai Yi Xiao Yao Zhang (太乙逍遥掌)

After 3 months of training your body work has improved. Your basics are now on a higher level. Your movement will be more precise and direct and always balanced, centered and rooted.

 

Section Six (Intermediate 3)

Content:

1) Core Content (same as before)

2) Wudang Internal Training (内家功法,Nei Jia Gong Fa)

3) Wudang Six Harmonies Sabre Form (六合刀法,Liu He Dao Fa)

4) Wudang Staff Form (玄武棍,Xuan Wu Gun)

After 3 months of training you have now achieved the basics with in saber and staff. You have improved the foot work, body work and learned the essential techniques. You have also improved the Neijia Gong Fu.

 

Section Seven (Advanced 1)

Content:

1) Core Content (same as before)

2) Wudang Internal Training (内家功法,Nei Jia Gong Fa)

3) Wudang Horsetail Whisk Form (太乙拂尘,Tai Yi Fu Chen)

4) Wudang 64 Taiji Quan (武当秘传64式太极)

After three months of training your Internal Gong Fu have further improved. All your other skills will have reached a higher level. The characteristics and style of Wudang Neijia Gung Fu will now show in your movements and approach.

 

Section Eight (Advanced 2)

Content:

1) Core Content (same as before)

2) Wudang Internal Training (内家功法,Nei Jia Gong Fa)

3) Wudang Zhao Bao 72 Taiji Quan (武当赵堡72式太极)

After three months of training your Taiji Quan Gong Fu will have further improved. Your Taiji will be fluid, relaxed, natural and centered.

 

Section Nine (Advanced 3) Wudang Disciple Level

Content:

1) Core Content (same as before)

2) Wudang Internal Training (内家功法,Nei Jia Gong Fa)

3) Wudang Tai Yi Mian Zhang (太乙绵掌)

You have now finished the Wudang disciple program and have the chance to become a “Wudang Xuan Wu Disciple”
